DeltaXML ODT Translate will show you where an existing translation needs to be updated to correspond with a new version of the master language document.

This is the scenario: You translate your master language document into several languages. But when you make changes to the master language document, it is very difficult to keep all the translations up to date without expensive translation memory systems. ODT Translate finds the changes you have made and finds all the paragraphs in the translated documents that need to be updated, making the job easier, cheaper and more accurate.

It works like this: ODT Translate tracks through the master language document and the modified master language document to determine which paragraphs have been changed. Then it processes the translated document and where there are no changes, the translation is left as it was. Where there are changes, the changes are shown so that the translation can be updated. This has a number of advantages over traditional Translation Memory systems:

• any formatting applied to the translation is preserved
• any additional information in the translation, e.g. a paragraph not in the original but required in the translation, is also preserved
• it is only necessary to translate the modified text, there is no need for re-translation of the unchanged text.
